What would you think of me if I were to tell you that I wake up early in the morning every day, switch on my mobile phone, and get extremely motivated and excited about stuffs instantly? A nut?
Caution: these are not scenes from the show “The Nutty Professor”, but my energy level rises almost instantaneously once I switch on my mobile phone. My Passion Index will rise to its intra-day high, too.
In fact, if the Passion Index fell in the afternoon, switching my mobile phone off and switching it on again will give it a much-needed rebound.
Are you guessing that my mobile phone is of the most expensive model available in the market, and that I am fully recharged by taking a mere peep at an extortionately priced item? If not, are you wondering if my mobile phone was being “jinxed” that a big, ginormous genie of sort called it its home, and that it will appear to grant my never-ending-wishes whenever I cause a slight friction between by my fingers and the Liquid Crystal Display?
Neither. By switching on my ordinary-and-not-so-expensive mobile phone, my “welcome note” will appear. This is where a phrase containing billions and trillions of megawatts was kept, enough to give me a full recharge. This is my strength, my favourite quote of all time:
“Whatever you can do, or dream you can, BEGIN IT”
I was asked about my strongest influence in life by my english teacher Miss Ford during the ENG 4U class.
It was on this occasional chance that I spotted a colourful book belonging to my friend. I began reading what is on the cover, and found myself uttering the phrase mentioned above.
I felt so in love with this phrase. The next thing I know, it is everywhere - on the welcome note of my mobile phone, on every essay I wrote (where applicable).
Strange things happened subsequently, and I successfully did many things that could enhance and make my resume looked a little nicer, one of which include winning a national competition.
I guess this phrase is all about keeping procrastination at bay. More often than not, a big dreamer’s (me) dreams can go straight down to the drain, because of one thing, and you have to guess what it is.
I am a big dreamer, and I always believe in myself and my abilities. I believe I am in charge of my very own life. I am a firm believer that I am the chosen one to mould my future.
My article of faith contained only 3 words, “nothing is impossible”. Having said that, I don’t believe there is any limit on what I can do, perhaps only limited by my very own imagination.
But sometimes when the chips are down, I felt helpless. I am sometimes intimidated by my surroundings, which could possibly be evil enough to discourage me. This is the time where my brain will be extremely creative to find tricks or excuses to defer any projects/stuffs that I am doing to a later date. I will procrastinate.
This is not something pleasant though, especially having to endure the sheer amount of guilt when I push the rewind button to review what I have done for the day, on days when I procrastinated.
This is the phrase that I will always treasure. It has changed my life dramatically, and it literally keeps me going whenever procrastination starts to rear its ugly head.
Here’s something noteworthy, I have even wrote this phrase in my valedictory column at the school magazine as the Chief Editor. I do hope this phrase will be a phrase to anyone who wishes to keep procrastination out of his/her life, because really, procrastination is holding us back, all of us.
