And all the men and women merely players. - William Shakespeare
For the past few days it has been a lot of drama, beginning with the advent of the stupefying BN downfall and the unprecedented sense of empowerment to stand up against any callous authority among the people. In the own words of William Shakespeare, life is a play and we are all actors on the stage.
In a way, I shouldn’t be surprise as the drama unfolds. The present story bears such striking resemblance to the ancient Chinese history, where the emperor had failed to deliver, resulting in the sufferings of the people and subsequently brought mass dissatisfaction. The people then bundled together and march towards the palace to get rid of the government that they have come to detest.
That usually ends with the emperor sliding a sword across his throat upon the harsh realization that he was cornered.
Today, we see the ending that befell the Chinese emperor unfolding in real life. Former Port Klang assemblyman Datuk Zakaria Md Deros, the one who breached all stated rules and regulations to build a “palace of his own”, died of heart attack.
Firstly, he was caught going against the law. Then, he was denied the chance to participate in the election. Then his daughter-in-law lost in election. Now, his BN lost in Selangor. In a rather archetypal way, such story characterizes a bad-guy-eventually-dies Hollywood ending.
What a drama!
